Holy shorts! Outdoor Voices teams up with CHOOOSE for the launch of The Solar Short
Outdoor Voices partners with CHOOOSE to introduce The Solar Short – a solar-panel inspired classic nylon short that bundles performance with climate impact.
Let’s start with a tribute. On September 20, the Austin, Texas-based activewear brand Outdoor Voices closed all of its stores and held sign-making workshops for anyone who wanted to participate in the Global Climate Strike. In addition to doing cool things like that, Outdoor Voices is known for its new take on technical apparel by offering versatile styles made for recreational activities - and for encouraging people to keep Doing Things, moving your body and having fun with friends.
On October 3, Outdoor Voices will introduce the Intramural Capsule, a dedicated uniform for team sports of all kinds featuring a graphic t-shirt and The Solar Shorts. The Solar Short is inspired by the polycrystalline solar panels in Big Bend National Park and is a classic nylon short that bundles performance with climate impact. For every pair sold, Outdoor Voices will offset 1.375 tonnes of global air pollution (CO2), the average monthly footprint of one American citizen, for a total of 4,125 tonnes of CO2.

To perform the CO2 offsetting, CHOOOSE and Outdoor Voices have carefully selected a portfolio of three grid-connected clean energy projects: a solar project in Thailand, a solar project in China and a wind project plant in Vietnam. All three projects are certified by the international Gold Standard. These projects reduce CO2 emissions in a measurable way through displacing fossil-fuel based energy with clean energy in the regions where they operate.
The Intramural Capsule including The Solar Short is set to launch on October 3 and will be available online and in-store at Outdoor Voices.
