Founder and Principal of Willows Investments UK, an impact investment initiative launched in 2007 supporting non-listed companies and funds that use market mechanisms to address the most pressing societal challenges including access to finance, education, healthcare and climate change solutions, as well as socially driven enterprises. Located in Surrey, United Kingdom.

What was your a-ha moment that made you become engaged in sustainability?

Laudato Si – the encyclical of Pope Francis.

What is your single best tip for someone who wants to do more for the environment on a personal level?

Listen to the experts, understand the science behind some of the claims.

What do you think will be the legacy of your generation?

One sincerely hopes Carbon Neutrality, but of course much remains to be done.

What is the most critical technological breakthrough that needs to happen for the world to reach the 1,5 degree goal?

Phasing out fossil fuels as an energy source while simultaneously increasing the use of renewables.

What will this breakthrough demand from us as a society?

Changing our behaviour in the way we consume energy.

What is your company’s most impactful contribution to fight climate change?

European Climate Foundation: being a part of this foundation for significant and impactful change throughout Europe and the wider world.

In your industry, what do you think will be the most groundbreaking change over the next 10 years?

Transport: electric vehicles, new ways of powering aviation, global shipping industry – working together to achieve carbon neutrality.

Which brand (in general) do you think is at the forefront when it comes to sustainability?

Unilever.

What makes you climate positive about the future?

Our younger generations taking on responsibility for climate action.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

There is always something to add to the argument but actions rather than words will prove to be our saviour!
